My favorite teacup for herbal teas.

As long nights return to the Northern Hemisphere, Nyx (aka Night) came knocking at the door of my translation practice. I had first translated Her hymn more than a year ago, but something told me to revisit it with the accumulated Orphic discoveries I’ve made over the past months.

Lo and behold, I did indeed view it with new eyes. The Orphic Nyx is so much more than She is regularly made out to be both in EX-oteric (read: mainstream) Greek myth, and on the interwebs, where She is often depicted as some kind of buxom Manic Pixie Dream Girl.

I’ll be releasing that new translation later this week, and we’ll have time in the live chat to read it together, share in our experiences of Night, and (of course) preserve ample time for Q & A.

Join me and other Sustaining Subscribers for our last live chat of the calendar year:

*** Saturday, December 14th (2-3:30pm EST)***

And for making it this far, some pictures of my own little dark night: my cat Venus. (That’s her brother Comet in the background.)

Venus the cat learns about herbs through osmosis, while her brother Comet looks on in the background.
