We have a Full Moon in Cancer on January 6th, and my Venus return on the 7th (those are cool events for astrology-minded folx)…so that means 🎉PAR-TAY!!! 🎉

Which, let’s face it…if you’re a magic/animist nerd like me, means dedicating some time to think and talk about All Things Esoteric.

So..Let’s meet up on Zoom for an hour to chat about anything/everything related to the Moon, Mars, and the Moon as Kourotrophos (or “child-rearer”).

For those of you who haven’t been following this conversation, the Kourotrophos is the form of the Moon that is little-known now, but was widely known in Ancient Mystery religions. They are the celestial form who gives those badass “Moon Nanny” vibes. *“Moon Nanny” phrase courtesy of the ever-hilarious kirah, who’s on Twitter @thestrology_.*

@urspiritauntie @mercuriusgeorge @ddamascenaa I was reminded of this when I turned off comments on a randomly viral IG post of mine on the full moon because it was getting the attraction of too many ncels & trolls. I was like “yeah I’m gonna moon nanny this and shut this down before it gets too out of hand”

If you haven’t been following my thread about the Kourotrophos over on Instagram, CHECK IT OUT! (I’m @cosmicspiritauntie on IG; @urspiritauntie on Twitter). There’s so much more to cover than I can address in a 90-second Reel, though…hence this pop-up live chat.

All paid subscribers to this substack can enter the live chat on Saturday for FREE! I plan to do more of these sort of events in the future, so if you needed a reason to upgrade, here it is. (You can use the button below to upgrade.)

A black and white photo depicts a statue of a striding figure with wings cradling a smaller human figure in their arms. The winged figure stands on a crescent moon with waves at their feet.
The Moon as Kourotrophos escorts a human soul into the next realm. (Statue from 5th c. BCE. Recovered in Caere, Italy. Presently held in the Berlin Museum.)

Live Chat FAQs

How do I log in?

If you are a paid subscriber, you can see the Zoom link and password at the bottom of this email.

If you AREN’T a paid subscriber, once you subscribe you’ll be able to access the full version of this email and see the link.

Can I attend if I don’t understand the astrology stuff?

Yes, please do! One of the things I most want to do in my work is bridge the gap between critical theory and the Ancient Mediterranean esoteric tradition. That means that I hope to make the theory and philosophy (ancient and modern) accessible to everyday folks. And vice-versa: if you are more of an intellectual sort but curious about ancient astrology and magic, I can break that down for you too.

What if I want to talk about something besides this Moon/Mars/Kourotrophos topic?

That’s totally fine! I’d love to chat about whatever you want…that’s part of why I’m doing this pop-up…to discover what each of you is most excited about, and what I should focus on as I unfold this translation project.

Can I share the link with a friend?

For this very first live chat, YES—each paid subscriber can invite one other guest to join for free. I hereby bless and release each of you paid folks to share the link with one other person you most think would enjoy this material. I’d like to limit it to one guest apiece just to keep the group size manageable.

Will the live chat be recorded?

My intention is to record it and make it available to paid subscribers. However, Mercury IS retrograde. And this is my first live chat. So…I’d say if you can, try to attend live. (Plus, you’ll get to ask your own questions and contribute to the conversation.) But fingers crossed, I will have a recording to share with those of you who couldn’t attend.

So HERE’S THE LINK BELOW»

Hope to see you there!

xo, Kristin
