Snippet #3: Holy Snakes!!!

On Forked Tongues, Serpentine Puns, and the Slipperiness of Space-Time

Snippets are unedited little informal recordings I do from time to time.

I’ve been wearing these little guys on my ears lately to remind me that the cosmos is slitheringly, fork-ed-ly alive.

This one is about the double meaning in Ancient Greek of “hiera” (meaning “Holy Things”) and “hiera” (meaning serpent/snake). The snake’s forked tongue makes it a fabulous instantiation not only of Mystery Language, but also of the slipperiness of space-time itself. And by virtue of the Greek pun, snakes can also help us understand something about the other type of “hiera:” the Mysteries. They also are about slithering through the body of space-time in new ways.
